Hi. I'm Clay and I'm a fundraiser.

I’ve held just about every title from Development Coordinator to Chief Development Officer in shops both large and small.

As a consultant I’ve worked on annual funds, capital and endowment campaigns, and in wealth intelligence and prospect development.

I’m so honored, now, to bring that experience to work in partnering with nonprofits who are ready to do more.

My first real fundraising job was as a grant writer - I learned early on how words and language can inspire and compel donors.  Since then I've written thousands of letters, appeals, case statements, and all kinds of written collateral.

And along the way I fell in love with data.  I saw too many beautiful stories not reach the audience that needed to hear them because of bad data or faulty systems.

As Brené Brown says - "Maybe stories are just data with a soul."

I’m a student and teacher at heart, so I’m constantly reading and learning about the art and craft of fundraising.  Some of my credentials include:

  • BA in Theater from the University of Georgia
  • MFA in Performance from Michigan Statue University
  • Certificate in Professional Writing, University of Chicago
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), 2014
  • AFP Certified Master Trainer
  • Certificate in Philanthropic Psychology, With Distinction, Institute for Sustainable Philanthropy

I teach the fundraising courses for the Certificate of Nonprofit Management and Certificate in Nonprofit Fundraising at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  I write and publish a lot, and present frequently at conferences, webinars, and association chapters.

I’m a proud member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and NTEN. I served as president of the AFP Las Vegas chapter for two years and now volunteer on two committees for AFP International. I serve on the Boards of Golden Rainbow Las Vegas and Nevada SPCA.

WHAT ALL THIS MEANS...

is that I bring this experience and perspective to coaching and consulting with you.  Fundraising is both a science and an art.  Bringing those elements together is what creates highly effective strategies that engage donors and fuel missions.
